Trimble Transportation Releases Significant New Version of Enterprise Transportation Software
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Trimble Transportation, Inc., North America's leading provider of enterprise transportation software, announced the release of TruckMate 2009 this week, a milestone upgrade for the popular operations system. A new naming scheme for annual major releases that can now be updated more conveniently underscores the significant improvement and expansion underway in the product line, developed and supported out of TMW's Vancouver, British Columbia, office.
"We are excited to bring this latest version of our product to both new and existing customers," said Randall Burrell, SVP and GM TruckMate. "TruckMate 2009 includes a strong array of technical and functional enhancements that clearly represent a new business standard for our software."
Significant among many new features is true multi-company support, which allows a single database schema to handle more than one related company's business transactions. Multi-company functionality is integrated in all standard TruckMate 2009 applications, where viewing cross-company data or restricting access to a single company by user is now configurable.
TruckMate 2009 also marks the transition of the product to a rolling-release delivery strategy, replacing the previous numbered versions-the most recent, TruckMate v. 8.0. Rolling releases are marked by more frequent, smaller product updates and offer smoother, less disruptive upgrade processes for TruckMate going forward, allowing customers to take advantage of product enhancements and innovations more effectively.
General additions to the software include a new screen-designer mode to tailor the display and arrangement of fields on common screens to fit business workflows; a GL Reset option for customized distribution of the GL account and revenue splitting based on loaded leg mileage; integration with ALK PC*Miler Tolls; integration with Carrier411 and with additional, online freight board services for brokerage; and richer options for the Crystal Reports Access Manager.
Enhancements to TruckMate's intermodal functionality include quick-entry mode for adding new containers from the trip doors list; displaying and assigning container and chassis names in yard and trip door views; and more per diem rate and free day schedule calculation options.
To better support LTL businesses, the city dispatch function receives quick mapping capabilities to pickups and deliveries; piece level tracking; short form pickup entry and quick bill entry; daily LTL quotes for current terminal; and new LTL mileage rule setup to determine LTL driver pay rates automatically. The dock handheld application for a portable computing device saw added features as well.
Within the TMW product family, TruckMate 2009 now features improved interoperability with TMW's DriverSeat web portal, TMT Fleet Maintenance software, IDSC ExpertFuel and the D2Link mobile communications system. Where the integrated accounting capabilities of TruckMate are not a fit, improved integration with Microsoft Dynamics GP financial applications expands robust and enterprise-class accounting options.
This week's product release is the most recent in a steady push of enhancements and product expansion for TruckMate since the acquisition of the former Maddocks Systems, Inc., by Trimble Transportation in 2006. The comprehensive list of new applications and program-level enhancements for TruckMate 2009 are covered in a 106-page "New Features Guide" that customers can request directly through their current technical support or insides sales channels from Trimble Transportation.
